Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer at CIAN

The core of CIAN's intellectual property policy is to create the CIAN test bed as an area for open research and information exchange among all partner institutions and IAB members.

With respect to intellectual property developed within CIAN, ownership will reside with the inventing institution, or, if joint, with the inventing institutions jointly. All members and partner institutions in CIAN will receive a royalty-free right to use CIAN technology for internal research use; IAB members are encouraged to pursue licenses with the inventing institution for commercial uses. The industrial liaison officer will help to facilitate technology transfer and to promote patenting of CIAN developed technologies.

In a unique development, CIAN Industrial program will collaborate with its Education program and the Arizona Center for Innovation to develop innovation training course for teams from CIAN IAB member companies to assist them in developing their new product ideas and driving commercialization within their organizations.
