CIAN Industrial Affiliates Board

CIAN's Industrial Affiliates Board (IAB) has been created to support the mutual needs of industry and the Center in areas of transformative technologies for optical access and aggregation networks.

This is accomplished by providing appropriate mechanisms for technical information exchange and research collaborations involving senior management and investigators at the partner institutions that include University of Arizona, University of California, San Diego, California Institute of Technology, Columbia University Norfolk State University, University of California, Berkeley, University of California, Los Angeles, Tuskegee University, University of Southern California.

Member Benefits

  • Access to the CIAN test bed for prototype testing.
  • Access to faculty expertise for problem solving, consultation and research collaboration.
  • Access to students from the partner universities.
  • Access to state-of-the-art facilities at each partner university.
  • Invitation to the annual IAB Meeting that includes presentations by CIAN researchers and member companies; and opportunities to interview prospective employees.
  • Participate in guiding CIAN's strategic project selection process.
  • Enter into sponsored research projects with CIAN faculty.
  • Graduate student and postdoctorate internship and mentoring opportunities.
  • Opportunities for industrial researchers to work at partner university labs.
  • Exclusive access to the CIAN website.
  • Access to CIAN related intellectual property for the purpose of CIAN research within members' own facilities and for the duration of the ERC

Testbed Capabilities

The primary CIAN testbed consists of 2000 ft2 contiguous lab space and 10 modular test bays including:

  • 50Gbps parallel BERT system
  • Four 12.5 Gbps BERT systems
  • Four 60GHz digital analyzers
  • 250 WDM channel bank
  • 15xSpan amplification complement
  • Two independent loops
  • All-Raman amplification complement
  • Parametric amplification complement
  • MHz-Scale optical spectral analysis
  • In-house amplifier fabrication facility
  • Fiber plant: 2000km SMF/NZDSF/LEAF
  • Commercial OC-768 terrestrial system
  • Access to transcontinental fiber plant

How to Join
