Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers

The CIAN Diversity Fellowship Program provides up to $50,000 in funding for minority and/or female Postdoctoral researchers who are NEW HIRES in CIAN research groups during the dates: Sept 1, 2009 - October 1, 2011. CIAN's Review Committee will determine the distribution of funds to each CIAN Diversity Fellow. Funding is contingent upon the total number of applicants and the salary structure of their home institution. CIAN's Diversity Fellowship will provide no more than 1/3 of the annual appointment costs and the faculty member must be willing to provide the remaining balance of their financial support for the 2009-10 academic year. The total number of fellowships offered will not exceed three.

1. Academic and technical excellence of the postdoctoral candidate
2. Engagement of the nominating faculty in CIAN activities
3. Relevance of the postdoctoral research to CIAN's research vision

Two ways to apply:

1. CIAN faculty member may submit their candidates CV and a letter stating their support of the candidate and commitment to provide the remaining funds for the research appointment.

2. Postdoctoral researchers who are interested in joining CIAN as a Diversity Fellow may submit their CV and a letter of interest explaining their research specialty and CIAN laboratory they'd like to join.

The application deadline is Friday, October 1, 2010. This is an open deadline and applications are accepted at anytime
